What Do You Think??

Hello my crafty friends, popping in here for a bit to show you the progress of the flooring. Still have to get the quarter round installed and some caulking done. Bret did the quarter round in the kitchen pantry for me so I could put that closet back together and start emptying out the guest bedroom. I will also put the shelving back in the hall closet to get those items back in there. I will just have to keep stuff off the floor as he didn't do the quarter round in that closet. He does have part the living room done, then I realized that it would be better to get the closet's done, so I can get that stuff out the way. It's all that little stuff that seems to take up so much room! Right now my house is looking like a hoarder's house and I'm not liking that at all! Especially the kitchen and spare bedroom!

Anyway, I'm beat! This isn't a job to do when you are trying to train a puppy! It came to a point when both dogs had to be in their crates a good bit of the time. Couldn't be helped. They did run around after we stopped for the day, but it was late and then I just wanted to go to bed as I was exhausted each night! We started first by ripping the years old, dirty (I shampooed all the time) carpeting out of the living room, dinning and hallway. Then the dinning and hallway carpeting was laid by a different store than the living room carpet and boy did we have a million and one staples to pull out the floor in the dinning and hallway. I didn't think we'd ever get them all done, but we did. Oh, who is we you ask? That would be Sandy, her husband, David and her brother Dale and of course myself. Sandy and I met in 5th grade and have been like sister's since. We claim each other as our sister. I grew up with her brothers, so they are all like brothers to me and of course Sandy, Dave and I ran around together as teens. So he is really like a BIL. After the nasty carpets and staples were out, we got to painting. Ok, I know it looks white! I didn't go with Bret's color choices because my house is small, my furniture is on the darker side and I just thought it would make things to dark. He wanted a darker tan and a red accent wall in the living and dinning room. Yeah, I didn't want to have to paint multiple coats of red either. I do love red however. So I decided on a  whipped buttery color....what, it doesn't look very buttery???? Yeah, you are right. The color I chose was called Toasted Oatmeal and it looked about like what I already had. lol In person you can tell a little bit that it is more of an "creamy" color compared to the ceiling. I didn't know that the paint chip was darker than the paint was going to be. So Bret wasn't a happy camper when he got home at my color choices. I told him he can change it, but he had to repaint. I wasn't! Painting all done on Thursday evening, so I did relax some on Friday. Not much with a puppy in the house, but some. Then Saturday morning the guys got started laying the floor.  I didn't take pictures of the old carpeting, because I know I have pics on my blog that shows some of the carpeting. It was light brown in the living room and that was over 30 years old. Dark brown for the dinning and hallway and that was 25 years old. Here's some pictures showing the floor coming along. Now take in mind that yes, the house did have original hardwood flooring. This house was Dwayne's grandparent's house and when they passed he bought it from the bank when the estate was settled. When we married though, the house was to small, so we started added on in Oct. 1992. Married in Feb. 1993. So walls were torn out and there the flooring was messed up due to the spots being filled in where the walls where taken out to get ready for a new floor-which was carpet. Thus why the floating floor now. Ok, here's the pics, warning pic heavy:

This is the type of flooring I picked. Is very durable, especially with dogs! Holds up to water as well. Got it at Home Depot,  the pattern, color I picked is called Highland Hickory.

Getting started in the living room with the first rows.  Bret gets it going.

Dale explaining something to David

David adding a row of flooring.

Yay, living room half done!

Living room is done and now moving into the dinning/kitchen area's.

Dinning room is more than half done as is the kitchen. My stove was their area where the guys wrote their measurements down for cutting of the flooring. Dave was doing some calculations.

Bret working his way into the kitchen closet.

Kitchen done! Except for it looking like a hoarder lives here. :-(

Dinning room done!

Living room done!

Hallway done!

Now I get the honors of putting the house back together again. Bret left for college at 8 am this morning since he didn't have a class until 11 am. So I guess I'd better get started, but going to take my time and clean out before putting back. Besides, right now I'm the only one living here. Kitchen comes first because I can't even make anything to eat with all that mess in there. lol I'm not going to rush the things back up on the walls, that will come a little bit at a time. Plus some things will go back up and some won't, changing things up a little more. I am really pleased with how the floors turned out and even my choice of flooring. The dogs have been playing on the floor and no scratches, so that is a good thing. Of course they are having a hard time getting any traction. lol They just slip and slide all over. lol

As always, thanks for putting up with me and my long posts. I hope you like the floors as much as I do. Now only 3 bedrooms to go! But that will be just one at a time. Not doing this much at one time again! As always your comments bring so much sunshine into my life and I appreciate you all so much!!

Will Be MIA

Just popping in here quickly to let you know that I will be once again disappearing for a bit. Got DS moved back up to college yesterday. Boy was it a hot one. The heat index was 110 and his apartment was so hot. Within 30 minutes, the three of us were soaked with sweat! Bret's uncle helped me moved him back up. Got both trucks and trailer unloaded into the apartment, then went to Wal-Mart to get a couple things for him and to look for an air conditioner because there was no way he was going to be able to sleep with the place being so hot! No ac's! Got lunch and came back to the apartment and I started unpacking the kitchen stuff. Bret and his uncle were upstairs putting his bed together and once again the sweat was running off of us. But while upstairs, they found an air conditioner in a closet, so they placed that one in Bret's window in his bedroom and got it running. Great!!! But downstairs was still cooking too. So we started making calls to see if anyone had any ac's. Sear's was the only one who had any. Remember, students are moving in this weekend on Sat. and Sun. So the ac's were flying off the shelf for students that have apartments! Wal Mart didn't even have any fans! Glad Bret at least had two of them! Go and get the ac and bring it back to the apartment and Bret and his uncle got that installed in the living room window. By then it was 3:30 pm and we really needed to hit the road for the 2 1/2 hour drive home. So glad he is close by home!!  But still a whole day just to move up and us to get back home. We got home here by 6:30 pm, we had left at 7:30 am. Bret's aunt had the pups, so she brought them over and supper. Bless her heart!!!!! She had been in the hot kitchen canning pickles all day!!! Bret's roommate is moving in today and has a training class for a campus job he will be doing. Then classes start tomorrow.

Now you are asking why I will be disappearing again?? Well let me tell you! Starting Monday, I will be clearing the walls and anything else I can clear, of the living room, dinning/kitchen and hallway/hallway closet. Bret is coming back home either Thursday night or Friday morning to start laying floors. In the mean time this week, his aunt and uncle will be here and we will pull up the carpeting and painting! Yay, new floors finally!!!! We will tackle the bedrooms at a later date, but for now I am so happy to be getting them in these other rooms. So busy, busy, busy this week and then will have to get everything put back together. Thankfully I don't have a big house.

So I will be MIA in my commenting and know I will never catch back up so I will just pick up with my commenting once I can. Thanks for understanding and I will be back to making cards and hopefully scrapbooking layouts soon. Will see how this goes and if Bret will be willing to tackle the bedrooms next. lol Might not even do them until next summer, depending on Bret once again. I want him to focus on school, so for me the bedrooms can wait until next summer!

Thanks for always hanging in here with me these last few years. They have been a roller coaster ride for sure with emotions that go all over the place. I'm still missing Dwayne very much, but I can't change it and know he is in a much better place. Just trying to find my way without him now, which is hard but I'm getting there. I still have many moments of tears and talking to him and God...but not as much as before. I'm slowly getting there, where ever there is.

Thanks for stopping by today and reading my ramblings. You all mean so much to me, you did before Dwayne passed and even more so now. Your comments always bring some sunshine into my world now and I so appreciate them!!! Now today will be spend cleaning the pool and hot tub and getting those up to par!

Just A Note

Hello my crafty friends! Savannah is doing well. She has her second vet appointment next week. First for us together. Then we can go start the training classes. Pockets and Savannah are a hoot together when playing. They all but knock everything over in the living room as well as run into my legs. They do get me laughing though! So good to see them have fun together and so good for my old gal!

Well I wanted to show you what else was keeping me busy. A friend of ours got their annulments from their first marriages, so they are getting remarried in the Catholic Church in Sept. She had gotten pads of paper with their names and second wedding date on it and pens with the same info on them. She asked me what she could do with them to make them into a nice favor. Well....here is what I came up with. It is a 7x5 acrylic photo frame with blue paper in between where the picture would go. The easel part is up at the top, so it lays down, but elevated by the easel part so you can write. I attached the pad to the on towards the bottom. Then my friend got pen holders and I attached them to the easel part in the back, but so the first pen would show from the front. Each one got 2 pens attached. Then I cut "just a note" in white vinyl and placed that above the paper pad. Not hard work, but time consuming. But they are all done now and ready for the bride and groom.

Here here are the other 60. I'm glad I only had to do 61 of them! lol .

As always thanks for stopping by and visiting with me for a spell. I so enjoy when you come by! Your comments always bring sunshine to my day.

What Do You Think of Savannah?!

Hello my crafty friends, I hope all is going well with everyone. A lot of kids are back in school or are soon heading back. DS will be heading back to college next weekend. I'm going miss him, but I know he will be coming home a lot and the school year will be over before I know it. Especially with as fast as these months are flying by.

So maybe you have been wondering where I've been....or not. lol I have been doing some elderly sitting, a whole week-was glad to get back to my own bed, but made some decent money doing it. So that kept me busy.

Since DS is heading back to college, he insisted that I needed a dog that will get big. We have a little Jack Russell and she is enough work for me. She has diabetes so I have to give her two shots a day. But last Monday we were talking and DS was bugging me about getting another dog. Nope, don't want one and if I would get one I would want a German Shepherd I told him. Well wouldn't you know it, on his way to work on Tuesday, DS see a new sign up at a house advertising GS puppies for sale. Of course as soon as he got to work he had to text me about them. Then he makes an appointment to go see them later that evening. Great. DS was hoping that I would fall in with one of them and would bring one home with us that evening. Actually he was betting on it! Well guess who feel in love.....nope not me, although they were really cute, it wad DS. So I said, lets just put a deposit down on one and go home and get things ready, hoping instead to just talk about it, weigh the pros and cons so to speak. But DS wasn't taking the hint, he said he would go to town and get everything the puppy would need. Great again. So we left there with this little cutie.

She is 8 weeks old, well soon to be nine weeks old. Her dad is huge, over 115 lbs. Her mother is a Blue Shepherd and when bred with another regular Shepherd, the pups take on the traits of the dad. When bred with another Blue, they take on the Blue Shepherd traits of course. We were told by the owners that little little cutie will get as big as her dad and I believe it! She is already way big for her age. It is when she walks that you realize that she is still a baby. Her feet are so huge, she has a hard time walking and is very doppy. lol We named her Savannah, it seem to fit her. I had forgotten how much work goes into caring for a puppy!! It's like an infant and trust me there isn't much sleeping going on right now. But she has already brought a lot of joy into this house. Pockets, the Jack Russell doesn't always do well with other dogs, she is old and she is used to being queen of the house. lol But they are getting along much better than I thought, although Pocket's will give Savannah a "back off bite/growl" when she doesn't want to play. Here are the two girls napping.

So this is what is keeping me really busy. I can't take my eyes off her a second because of the teething. So I'm curious to know what you think, do you think it was "fate" that the sign was put up???? I kinda' took it as a sign.....
